A Knight's Tale

Why see A Knight's Tale?

My Lords, My Ladies, And Everybody Else Here Not Sitting On A Cushion!

Manchester Opera House and Runaway Entertainment promise a Knight to remember as they bring this brand new musical adaptation of the titular 2001 film to you in spring 2025! A rollicking adventure that follows William Thatcher on his quest to become the best knight in the Kingdom, this exciting staging is adapted by Brona C. Titley, and will be directed by Rachel Kavanagh, with choreography from Matt Cole.

In the words of Titley, the show is set to be "a sexy, silly, jousty, dancey, romance-y, musical extravaganza" that captures the original spirit of the movie, including the headbanging soundtrack for a whole new audience!

What Is The Story Of A Knight's Tale

The film that launched Heath Ledger to the top of many a 00's teenager's crush list, A Knight's Tale is the story of William Thatcher, a young Knight's squire who takes his master's place and attempts to change his fate while rising to be the most famous Knight in all of England.

Aided by a rag-tag bunch of peasants and  Geoffrey Chaucer (on whose work the story is based), William finds his fortunes on the up both in his career and his personal life. But when his biggest competitor, the dastardly Count Adhemar begins to suspect his roots are not so noble, Will finds himself at the tournament of a lifetime. Written by Brian Helgeland who gives his full blessing to this new iteration, its anachronistic pop and rock score and witty quotes has made it a cult classic over the last few decades. We have been weighed, we have been measured and we can't wait for this musical to gallop to the stage!
