Originally created by the acclaimed balletmaster Rudolf Nureyev for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, this gorgeous production of Romeo & Juliet celebrates its 50th Anniversary in a new revival. With stumptious Renaissance Era costumes, set design, and of course, Sergei Prokofiev's timeless score, enjoy the electrifying drama of literature's greatest story once more as presented by the English National Ballet.
Whilst our young, star-crossed lovers Romeo Capulet and Juliet Montague are concerned with their secret relationship, their long-term rival families will stop at nothing to destroy each other. When it becomes clear the match will not be tolerated, the pair hatches a scheme to escape the embittered streets of Verona; only the outcome depends on some dangerous trickery that might just see their fates entwined forever, and not in the marriage bed as previously planned.
